Essikado (W/R), Aug. 2, GNA – Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Paramount Chief of Essikado Traditional Area, has said the disregard for our valuable cultural traditions was comparable to throwing away the future of every individual and the community at large.
He said proper education and training on cultural values must therefore be upheld to enable the society develop in its proper form adding that development and good values are intertwined.
The Paramount Chief said after the Management of MTN Ghana presented a cheque of GH¢5,000.00, and GH¢500.00 worth of recharge cards as part of their support to this year’s Kumdum festival.
The theme for this year’s Kumdum: “The Role of Tradition in Community and National Development”, was chosen to remind Ghanaians of the need to go back to their cultural values and norms that promoted social cohesion and development.
Nana Kobina Nketsia V said the society was fast losing its values and societal virtues such as integrity, truth and love for one another and this is hampering our societal development.
Mr Simon Amoh, Senior Manager for South-West Business District of MTN Ghana, expressed the company’s joy in associating its brand with the festival.
He said tradition was central to development because it helps to disseminate knowledge, norms and values to a given community and serve as a good medium to change negative mindsets.
“We trust that the relationship between us would deepen even further as we continue to associate with the Kudum Festival for our mutual development agenda”, Mr Amoh said.
