Cape Coast, Aug. 02, GNA – Vodafone Ghana on Monday begun a-five-day 'coding' and technology information training programme for 30 females at Cape Coast in the Central Region.
The Vodafone coding course would provide in-depth knowledge of computer languages and practical development programmes to enable the participants drawn from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), to develop websites and apps by the end of the training.
Organised by Vodafone Ghana Foundation (VGF) and facilitated by its staff from the Technology, Strategy and External Affairs and the Human Resource Department, the training seeks to ‘digitise’ more women by overcoming their barriers to internet usage to enhance their livelihood.
The beneficiaries would build their capacities through major topics such as financial management and intelligence, networking coding and career and guidance.
Mr Ebenezer Amankwah, Corporate Affairs Manager of Vodafone, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that Vodafone Ghana remained committed to employing innovative strategies to champion the power of digitisation among the youth in Ghana.
“This is the beginning of concerted efforts to train the entire youth population in Ghana with power of technological skills and information,” he said.
He said the determination was fueled by Vodafone’s unflinching desire to ensure that Ghana became a torchbearer in technological independence and transformation to accelerate development in the sub-region.
The beneficiaries would be presented with laptops, souvenirs and other relevant items at the end of the training to start the new adventure of transforming lives through coding.
