Mankessim (C/R), Aug. 02, GNA – The Ahantaman Rural Bank has expressed its determination to open a new branch at Mankessim in the Mfantsiman District of the Central Region by December this year.
This would bring to two its mobilisation centres and branches in the Region.
Mr Benjamin Afful Eshun, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Bank, said the main focus of the new branch would be to assist entrepreneurs with loans and credit facilities to start or boost their businesses.
He disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) when the Bank disbursed a total of GH¢1,299,200 through the Social Investment Fund (SIF) to 27 groups of entrepreneurs and traders comprising 306 females and 51 males from the District.
The beneficiaries included artisans, fishermen, fishmongers, electricians, masons, petty traders, head porters, unions and Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (SMEs).
The disbursement is to support the beneficiaries to grow and expand their businesses to create wealth and reduce poverty.
The beneficiaries were schooled on financial management, bookkeeping and basic management principles to enable them to efficiently manage their businesses.
“The new branch would make it easy and more convenient for our client base and residents as they would no longer have to travel far distances before transacting business with us,” he said.
Mr Eshun said the Bank’s ultimate goal was to provide quality banking services and respond swiftly to the needs of its customers, adding that the move was in response to numerous calls by its clients in the area.
He re-echoed the determination of management and the board of the Bank to actualise its vision of being the foremost financial institution in the country.
“We are certain that with solid direction from the board and visionary leadership of management, the financial power house will continue to soar to greater heights,” he said.
To achieve this, he said, the Bank had well trained, dedicated and committed staff who uphold excellent customer service as their topmost priority, adding “we believe excellent service delivery is a prerequisite for business success in the highly competitive banking industry.”
Mr Eshun said the Bank was determined to become a reliable ally of the private sector in particular and added that the cost of doing business with the Bank was the lowest in the industry.
Mr John Adjei, Head of Micro-finance, advised SMEs to patronise the products and services of the Bank to enable them to remain formidable, competitive and grow to become a global brand.
The services offered by the Bank, he said, included, Daakye Investment Account, current and savings account, mobile money, T-bills plus, susu plus account, agric loan susu account and VISA and MasterCards among others.
Madam Faustina Akuba Mensah, the Western and Central Regional Zonal Coordinator of SIF, advised the beneficiaries to use the loans given them for the intended purposes to enable them to pay back.
Mr Prince Ofori, leader of the beneficiaries, thanked the Bank and SIF for their passion to support local businesses to grow.
