New Abirem (E/R), Aug. 2, GNA - Mr Abdul - Nashiru Mohammed, the New Country Director of Water Aid Ghana, has expressed the NGO’s commitment to partner with the Birim North District Assembly, to augment developmental projects.
He made this known when he paid a courtesy callon Mr Raymond Nana Damptey, the District Chief Executive (DCE) at New Abirem in the Eastern Region.
Mr Abdul- Nashiru said over the years Water Aid Ghana had established strong ties with the District Assembly and therefore has plans of extending its activities for the next five years to enable the NGO to complete projects started.
He said the NGO had so far provided 16 limited mechanised water systems and nine institutional latrines in the District to ensure safe water and to improved sanitation.
Mr Damptey, the DCE applauded the organisation for choosing Abirem for its operations and promised that the Assembly was ready to partner with the NGO in bringing development to the area.
Water Aid Ghana is an international NGO that focuses attention on improving poor people’ access to safe water, improved hygiene and sanitation in developing countries and in marginalised communities.
To date, the NGO has so far reached more than 110,000 people with safe water and more than 50, 000 people with sanitation in the country.
