Kumasi, July 27, GNA – Sir Francis Albert Owusu-Ansah, a former Editor of the Ghana News Agency (GNA), has died at the ripe age of 93.
The late nonagenarian, who was one of the pioneer reporters of the Agency, rose through the ranks and served as Regional Manager in the Ashanti and the Brong – Ahafo Regions, proceeding on retirement in 1972.
Mr. James Adjei-Kyem, a family spokesman told the GNA in Kumasi that, the late Sir Owusu-Ansah passed on at the Komfo-Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), on June 30, 2017.
The burial service of the late former Editor, knighted by the Roman Catholic church before his demise, would be held on Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the “Our Lady of Holy Rosary” Catholic Church, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.
His remains would be interred at the St. George’s Catholic Cemetery, Kuntenase in the Bosomtwe District, his hometown, after which a final funeral rites would be observed at the KNUST Community Centre.
“Our Lady of Holy Rosary” Catholic Church, will be the same venue for Thanksgiving and Memorial Service on Sunday July 27, 2017 and then, a family gathering at the St Francis School, Bomso-Kumasi.
He is survived by one wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Owusu-Ansah, seven Children and numerous grandchildren.
