The term of reference of the committee was to find out funds that had accrued through the use of the machine, its maintenance, who and how the grader driver was sacked and how it got disappeared from the Assembly.
The five –member committee had two months to submit its report to the District Chief Executive (DCE) Mr Dennis Armah-Frempong for the necessary action.
Members of the committee are; Mr Richard Ziggah, Senior Lecturer , University of Education, Winneba, Mr Abeiku Ansah, Assemblyman for Agona Asafo, Mr Afful Abaase, Agona East Engineer, Mr Benjamin Nortey , Agona East Agriculture Director, and Mr Oko Okain, Assemblyman for Mankrong-Jucntion.
The motion for the committee was tabled by Mr Richard Ziggah, Assemblyman for Nintah –Ofoase electoral area and accepted by members of the house following numerous complaints received from various electoral areas.
It was also tasked to look for the transport officer of the Assembly who was accused of being negligent and thereby allowed people to misuse the vehicles including the grader.
The grader was purchased in 2007-2008 by the Assembly under President John Agyekum Kufuor’s regime to use it to construct community roads in the district.
The DCE expressed disgust about the current state of the grader and warned that any one found culpable would not be spared.
He said the machine was acquired purposefully to open-up the area, but it that purpose was not achieved and cautioned that the Assembly would use legal means to punish officers who misused the grader.
According to the DCE, the grader had not been seen for almost two years, adding that it would be extremely difficult for the Assembly to procure new machines considering their financial situation.
Nana Kwao Ponsi, Adontenhene of Agona Asafo and Presiding Member of Agona East was not happy about how the machine was handled, adding that many roads in their communities in the district needed reshaping.
He charged the committee members to execute their functions without fear or favour to unravel the mystery behind the disappearance of the machiine.
Nana Ponsi said the grader was supposed to have been used to serve as an income generating venture and not for certain individuals.
