Nkoranza, (B/A), May 31, GNA - A total of 1,813 candidates drawn from 59 basic schools in the Nkoranza Municipality are writing this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination.
The examination is expected to begin on Monday June 5.
Comprising 937 boys and 876 girls, the candidates are from 42 public and 17 private schools.
Mr Sulley Al-hassan, the Nkoranza South Municipal Director of Education told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the candidates had increased as compared to 2016.
Last year 1,602 candidates made up of 873 boys and 729 girls wrote the exams in the municipality.
Mr Alhassan announced that the examination would be held at seven (7) centres and a total of 76 supervisors and invigilators were expected to supervise the centres.
In the Nkoranza North District, about 989 candidates comprising 546 boys and 443 girls are expected to write the BECE.
The District Examination Officer Mr David Dadzie told the GNA that the candidates were drawn from 41 schools made up of 39 public and two private ones.
He said the district had five examination centres, adding that seven (7) Supervisors and 36 invigilators would supervised the exams.
