Ntinanko, (Ash), May 25, GNA – Rotary Club of Kumasi East, has upped its drive to instil the culture of volunteerism and service to humanity among the people.
This is being done through the “rotary community corps” initiative, under which its members in rural communities are encouraged to lead the development of these areas.
Inaugurating the Ntinanko Rotary Community Corps in the Asante-Bekwai Municipality, Rotarian P. A. G. Sowah, the Assistant Governor for Africa, said it was important for everybody to accept to work together to make the society a better place.
He reminded the members to show care, and to be at the forefront of the effort at bring development to their communities.
They should initiate and implement projects that would contribute to the improvement of the living conditions of the people.
The Ntinanko Corps has more than 65 members and was formed and sponsored by Rotary Club of Kumasi East.
Rotarian Sowah, said ‘Rotary’ a worldwide charitable society of business and professional people, was focused on the pillars of peace, maternal and child care, water and sanitation, health and disease prevention and community development.
The objective, he indicated, was to ensure that the vulnerable and people in deprived rural communities had access to these to live normal lives.
He said through the sacrifices and contribution of the members, many in deprived communities across the world, had received support, which had helped to improve their lot.
Rotarian Sowah, who is also the District Chairman of Rotary Community Corps, urged members to be self- disciplined to become role models in the community.
The Chairman of the Rotary Club of Kumasi East, Rotarian Akwasi Kyeremanteng Mensah Aborampah, said the Corps was formed at Ntinanko because of the commitment and dedication of the people in the community to utilize and maintain development projects provided for the community by the Club.
He applauded the community members for embracing volunteerism and the care for others and said they would continue to support them to undertake projects to improve on their lives.
Rotarian Emmanuel Adu Gyamfi, President of the Ntinanko Community Corps, thanked Rotary Club for the support and accepting them to be part of the rotary fraternity.
