Tarkwa (W/R), May 25, GNA - Two persons have been granted bail in the sum of GH¢ 6,000.00 each by the Tarkwa District Court ‘Two’ for allegedly stealing GH¢ 5,000.00 and a 21 inch flat screen television set belonging to one Kwaku Mintah.
The accused persons are Anab Isaah, an illegal miner and Richard Kwame Poku, a tailor, who pleaded not guilty to conspiracy to commit crime, causing unlawful damage, unlawful entry and stealing.
Prosecuting Chief Inspector Faustina Selestina Anaman told the court, presided over by Mr. Jonathan Nunoo, that the complainant Kwaku Mintah, is a businessman and he who owns a gold shop around the Tarkwa Post Office area.
She said because of the increasing theft cases recorded in the area, the complainant allows one of his staff to sleep in his office after the day's work.
Chief Inspector Anaman said on April 9, after the complainant had closed for the day he left his office under the care of Prince Amankwa.
The Prosecutor said on that day, it rained heavily and that Prince later went to the Tarkwa Railway station area to buy food and when he returned, he noticed that thieves had broken into the office through the roofing and made away with a 21 inch sharp flat screen television set valued at GH¢ 800.00 Ghana cedis and GH¢ 5,000.00, which was in a metal money safe.
Chief Inspector Anaman said Prince explained that when he was on his way back to the office after buying the food, he saw Anab carrying a flat screen television and he quickly informed Mr Mintah on phone.
She said the next day, Mr Mintah mobilized his workers and they arrested Anab and handed him over to the police and during interrogation Anab admitted the offense.
According to the Prosecution investigations revealed that the accused sold the television set to a certain man at Tarkwa Na Aboso for 220.00 Ghana cedis, who he alleged he did not know his whereabouts.
Chief Inspector Anaman said Poku was later arrested but claimed he had no idea about the crime.
She said the police are making the necessary effort to apprehend the third suspect whose name was only given as Mersh.
