Sunyani, May 24, GNA – Mr Mark Nii Abbey, the Brong-Ahafo Regional Director of the National Service Scheme (NSS), has said service personnel who fail to serve the 12-month mandate would be sanctioned.
Culprits would not get their certificates, Mr Abbey said, when he addressed the First Annual General Meeting of the Sunyani Municipal branch of the National Service Personnel’s Association (NASPA) in Sunyani
He reminded the service personnel of the NSS Act 246, which states that “any National Service person who refuses to serve the full one year mandate would be sanctioned by the NSS Act”.
Mr Abbey said the NSS has received information about some service personnel who vacate their post for some period and warned personnel to desist from such attitudes.
“It is mandated that all service personnel to remain at post from September to July”, the regional director said.
Mr Wisdom Tuah, the Sunyani Municipal President of NASPA, urged the members to be focused and disciplined so that they could easily be engaged after the period of service.
