Tamale, May 21, GNA - Nestle Ghana Limited, a Consumer goods company, has held its Nestle Ghana Nido Nutrition Day as part of its commitment to contributing to healthier lives for individuals and families in the country.
About 400 mothers and school pupils participated in the event held at the Saint Paul’s R/C Primary School in Tamale to educate mothers and caregivers on the importance of good nutrition through a series of talks, drama and games.
Mr Edwin Amoako, Category Manager for Dairy at Nestle Ghana Limited said the company was committed to improving the quality of lives of children in the country by providing nutritional products for children that helped address micronutrient deficiencies.
Madam Bernedette Kafari, Northern Regional School Health Education Programme Coordinator said the participation of mothers in the event would help them understand the importance of nutrition and provide balanced diets to their children.
Madam Kafari lauded the initiative saying it helped to boost children’s intellectual capacity and called on Nestle Ghana Limited to expand it (initiative) to benefit a lot more members of society.
Nestle Ghana Limited presented a GH?500.00 scholarship each to two pupils of Saint Paul’s Primary School for excelling in a competition held as part of the Nestle Ghana NIDO Nutrition Day event whiles Nido products and exercise books were also presented to participants.
