Tarkwa (W/R), May 15, GNA - The Family of the late Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr. George Milton Ashanti has renovated the Tarkwa Divisional Police headquarters at a cost of 46, 200 Ghana cedis.
The building was tiled and painted in memory and honour of the late DSP Mr Milton Ashanti.
Handing over the facility to the Western Regional Police Commander in Tarkwa, Mrs Dorothy Ephraim, a daughter of the deceased said even though their late father worked in several areas he started his police service work in Tarkwa.
She said their late father was part of a special group in 1968 that were involved in an accident on the Tema motorway while chasing some criminals who had gone to steal from the Tema harbour.
Mrs Ephraim described him as hardworking, loving and caring and stressed that there was no father in the world that could be compared to him.
She said while her younger sister was leaving for Canada in 1974 she indicated that the family would do something significant at where their late father began his police service.
Mrs Ephraim said even though her sister Mrs Irene Konadu Hanson-Monnie passed away, her husband followed up to Ghana and ensured that her wish was accomplished because she discussed it with him.
She called on Ghanaians to exhibit dignity, pride and truth in every work they found themselves to enable the public remember them when they were no more.
The Western Regional Police Commander, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Mr Kwasi Mensah Duku on behalf of the Police Administration, thanked the family, and asked the divisional commander to ensure that the facility was well maintained.
He called on other philanthropists and companies to emulate the kind gesture of the late Mr Milton Ashanti's family so that together they could build a formidable police service.
He hoped that the relationship between the deceased's family and the Ghana Police Service would be strengthened.
