Odumase (Ash), May 15, GNA – Four persons perished when a fuel tanker, carrying 52,000 litres of petrol from Tema to Kumasi, run over a Toyota Corolla saloon car at Odumase in the Asante-Akim Central Municipality.
The deceased were all travelling in the saloon car.
Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Adjei Brobbey, the Konongo Commander of the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD), confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), and said, the driver and mate of the tanker also got seriously hurt.
They suffered deep cuts and broken bones and are receiving treatment at the Konongo-Odumase Government Hospital.
The driver of the Man Diesel tanker is believed to have lost control of the steering wheel, veered off its lane and crashed into the saloon car, leaving three dead on the spot.
ASP Brobbey said the other person died later at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where he had been rushed for medical attention.
He added that the deceased were yet to be identified and their bodies had been deposited at First Class Hospital Mortuary at Yawkwei near Konongo.
