Kwadwo Dwemena, the farmer, pleaded guilty with explanation when he appeared before the court, presided over by Mr Emmanuel Bart-Plange Brew.
The accused, who admitted defrauding the complainant, informed the court that he used part of the money to foot the medical bills of his child and was not engaged in small scale mining as alleged by the police.
The judge after listening to Dwemena's explanation placed him on remand till Monday May 8 when judgement would be pronounced.
Prosecuting, Chief Inspector Faustina Celestina Anaman earlier told the court that, the complainant, Samuel Sani is the district manager of Olam cocoa buying company.
She said in December 2016, the complainant gave an amount of GH¢12,825.00 to the accused to purchase 27 bags of dried cocoa beans for the company.
Chief Inspector Anaman said after the amount had been given to the accused, he decided to invest it into small scale mining and did not abide by the directive.
She told the court that Dwemena also failed to relay the company's weekly report and rather went into hiding until he was arrested and handed over to the police on April 21.
