Sekondi, April 24, GNA - The Apave Ghana Inspection limited and ETC Ghana limited have donated tools and other logistics to the Sekondi/Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly in support of a massive clean -up exercise in the Metropolis slated for May 6 this year.
The items which include wheel barrows, waste bags, polka dot gloves, hand cleaners, shovels, spades, nose masks, rakes, brooms, cutlasses and Wellington boots would be used to rid the Metropolis of filth and also avoid floods.
Mr. John Laste, the Public Relations Officer of the Assembly, said so far more than hundred corporate institutions and individuals have been contacted to assist with the procurement of the requisite equipment for the exercise.
He explained that the May 6 exercise would desilt major chocked drains, clean and weed ceremonial roads, pick and dispose of littered polythenes, sweep the streets as well as evacuate liquid waste.
Mr. Laste mentioned that the Assembly in collaboration with the security agencies would deploy personnel to restrict vehicular movement and trading activities within the period, adding, “the Assembly will arrest and prosecute recalcitrant drivers and traders”.
Mr. Anthony Sam, the MCE of the Assembly expressed his gratitude to the companies for the quick response to the Assembly’s plea for assistance.
He said his tenure would see the Metropolis ‘clothed in cleanliness’ adding, “STMA will be the cleanest city again”.
