Tamale, April 21, GNA - The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Northern Ghana Governance Activity has held a Conflict Management and Peace-building training for 50 participants from Bimbilla in the Nanumba North District of the Northern Region.
The two-day training, which ended on Friday, was in response to USAID’s contribution to creating stability in conflict-affected farming communities in the Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions.
A statement issued in Tamale by CARE International and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the training was also to equip the participants with the basic conflict management and peace-building tools and skills for peaceful co-existence.
It was also to ensure sustainable development of agriculture through the Northern Ghana Governance Activity and enhance community dialogue and consensus building to better manage conflicts and promote the sustainable growth of agriculture, the statement said.
It said the Northern Ghana Governance Activity was a five-year project supported by USAID and implemented by a consortium of non-profit organisations led by CARE International.
It named other implementing partners as ActionAid Ghana, SEND Ghana and the West Africa Network for Peace-building.
The statement said as part of Feed the Future, the United States Government’s global hunger and food security initiative and the Northern Ghana Governance Activity worked to fortify the coordination and integration of decentralised agricultural development.
They also worked to promote responsive governance for improved agricultural development in 28 districts in Northern Ghana.
