Accra, April 17, GNA - The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has donated some food items to churches and institutions towards the celebration of Easter.
The items presented included; bags of rice, gallons of oil, cartons of soft drinks and boxes of canned products.
The donation formed part of the NLA’s Corporate Social Responsibility and the Authority’s second mandate to support the needy, destitutes and vulnerable in society.
Mr Kofi Osei-Ameyaw, Director General of the NLA together with the management presented the items to support the 2017 edition of Joy FM’s annual Easter Soup Kitchen which feted thousands of underprivileged in society.
The Authority also donated some items to management and staff of Citi FM to support the annual Easter Orphan Project which supported some selected orphanages in the country.
The Dzorwulu Special School, which catered for children with Special needs also received some items.
Some additional six churches in the Atimpoku and Juapong areas including the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Catholic Church and the Church of Pentecost were also presented with some food items to support their annual picnics for destitutes in their localities.
Mr Osei- Ameyaw said the gesture formed part of the Authority’s mission to give hope and happiness to society, particularly the underprivileged during occasions such as Easter to make them feel loved and cared for.
He said ‘when people play NLA Games and do not win, the money goes to support projects such as these’, adding, ‘even if you do not win, you are still a winner as your money goes to support national development.’
Mr Osei- Ameyaw commended the institutions and churches for the good work and assured them of NLA’s continuous support in the coming years.
The recipients thanked NLA for the support and called on other organisations to emulate their example.
