Kumasi, April 17, GNA – The church has been admonished to go to every length to provide protection for the youth and help them to reject deviant behaviour.
The General Overseer of the Pentecostal Believers Church, the Reverend Akwasi Afrane, said they should be taught the gospel to become God-fearing, caring and to have fellow feeling.
He was delivering the sermon at a service to bring the curtain down on a four-day Easter convention at Ampabame.
Organized by the Kumasi District of the Church under the theme “In His Presence”, the event brought together hundreds of followers from its Patasi, Buokrom, Amakom, Kona, Adwumakaasekese and Asuofua branches.
The Rev Afrane indicated that helping children to live by the true teachings of the Bible was the way forward to save them from going wayward.
He therefore urged the church to take deliberate steps to strengthen the Sunday school – a school for religious education held for children.
He reminded parents to live their faith to become good example and positive influence on the young people.
They should mirror Christian values of love, honesty, humility, modesty, patience and forgiveness.
The Rev Afrane called for intensification of the church’s evangelization to turn people away from anything sinful to bring salvation to them.
They should give hope and help the people to remain confident about the future even in the face of trial and difficulties.
