Accra, April 12, GNA – An Accra Circuit Court has remanded Seidu Mahama and Armah Boye in police custody for conspiracy to commit crime and robbery.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty and would reappear on April 26.
Prosecuting, Superintendent of Police Kweku Bempah told the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh that the complainants in the case are Albert Allotey and Irene Adubea, a married couple.
He said the accused persons were land guards and residence at Bortianor.
He said on January 25, 2017 at about 18:30 hours, five masked men all armed with alleged AK 47 rifles and pistols broke into the complainant’s house amidst assault and threat of death.
He said the accused persons succeeded in robbing the Albert of his saloon car, one 42 inches flat screen television set, one 28 inches flat screen television set, one multi decoder, one DSTV decoder, one sound system unit, five mobile phone and cash, the sum of GH¢550,000.00
Supt Bempah said the accused persons not satisfied, they further robbed Irene of her Toyota corolla car and jewelries valued at GHc5,000.00 and bolted.
The Prosecution said a report was made to the Police and investigation led to the arrest of Seidu through his black Honda saloon car, which they used to attacked the complainant’s house on January 25.
He said the same car, was also used to escort the two stolen vehicles of the complainants out of their house was identified by a witness, who saw the unusual quick movement of the complainants’ stolen vehicles from their house.
Supt Bempah said the Police traced the identity of the owner of the Honda saloon car to the house of Seidu and he admitted ownership of the vehicle and was subsequently arrested.
On January 31, the Regional Crime Officer organised an identification parade, where Albert identify Seidu being among those, who came to their house and he was charged for court on February 13.
He said on April 4, Albert further alerted the Police that he had identified Boye as being the accomplice, who robbed them.
