Accra, April 10, GNA - The Chief Executive Officer of Decathlon Ghana, Mr Kwesi Tabury has donated 200 basketballs to the Universities, Polytechnics and Colleges (UPAC) basketball Tournament which ended over the weekend.
The donation, which also includes some quantity of sports shoes for the winners, forms part of efforts to support the sport and also showcase Decathlon’s sports products to the Ghanaian market.
The UPAC Basketball Championship saw teams like the University of Ghana (UG), Accra Technical University (ATU), Marshall University College (MUC), the University of Human and Natural Resources and other teams competing for the ultimate glory, which saw UG defending the title it won last year with a win over MUC in the finals at the Basketball Court of UG.
The UG won the crunchy encounter by 41-23, with ATU taking the third place by beating University of Human and Natural Resources 41-21.
Mr Tabury in an interview with the GNA Sports said the goal of the company is to support sports and design best products for consumers at affordable prices and ensure that they meet consumer’s needs by designing products to suit the market.
He said they have a “Sports for All” initiative where everyone is encouraged to participate in a particular sport for fitness and leisure.
"We donated some balls and other basketball items to all the competitors. We want to understand our costumers’ needs and put on the market the best products. Our motive is to provide best value for money for ours costumers,"
Mr Tabury congratulated the two finalists for their splendid display and urged them to continue training hard and play with the same zeal in future competitions.
