The ceremonial parade is an old tradition inherited from the British during the period of colonialism. The ceremony, a quarterly event, is similar to that of the Buckingham Palace.
President Akufo-Addo is witnessing the ceremony for the first time as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Ghana Armed Forces.
The Ghana Army takes over guard duties at the Flagstaff House for the next three months.
The Ghana Air force was in charge of Guard duties until the ceremony on Monday.
The ceremony was witnessed by Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Opare, ministers, service chiefs and top government functionaries, as well as school children.
