Kumasi, Mar 27, GNA – The Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, the Right Reverend Christopher Nyarko Andam, has asked public officials to overcome greed and obsession with money.
He said they should demonstrate high sense of integrity, openness and transparency in everything they did.
He was addressing the 32nd annual general meeting of the Diocesan Association of Methodist Men’s Fellowship.
“Go and make disciples of all nations: Rekindling the Methodist Men’s Fellowship for church growth”, was the theme for the event
It provided the forum to discuss ways to ensure the growth of the church.
The Rt. Rev Andam asked Christians in the public service to become good example to their colleagues at the work place – good work ethics and refuse to be corrupted.
They should go to every length to build the confidence of the people in them, he added.
He made reference to the past where the nation’s “public servants” were ranked among the best workforce in Africa in terms of discipline and integrity and said even though many of them were paid meagre salaries, “this did not compel them to steal from state coffers”.
The Rt. Rev Andam said it was ironical that people, who professed to be religious, continued to engage in corrupt and undignified practices.
He urged the Association to scale up its outreach programmes to give hope to the people.
Mr. Kwasi Agyeman Bediako, Diocesan Chairman of the Association, said it would continue to work hard to assist bring salvation to the many.
