Accra, March 21, GNA - Professor Yaa Ntiamoa-Baidu, the new Chairperson of the MiDA Board, has asked the management to ensure that the goal and objectives of the Ghana Power Compact were met to the benefit of Ghanaians.
Prof Ntiamoa-Baidu said this when she met with the management of MiDA after the inauguration of the reconstituted Board on Monday March 13, 2017.
The meeting, which comes ahead of her maiden board meeting next week, gave Prof Ntiamoa-Baidu the opportunity to get acquainted with the heads of the various units and the project managers handling the six Compact Projects.
It also discussed progress made on the projects, challenges so far, and how to enhance the programme implementation.
Prof Ntiamoa-Baidu assured the management of her support and echoed President Akufo-Addo’s charge to the Board to endeavour to meet the goal and objectives of the Ghana Power Compact
The Ghana Power Compact will directly support the energy sector strategic objectives to achieve power supply sufficiency including exports to neighbouring countries, and also supply power for new oil and gas based industries.
The programme will therefore focus on developing projects and initiatives that will address the constraints to the supply of adequate and reliable power. They will also seek to address the attendant socio-economic and gender issues that are related to electric power.
