Kumasi, Mar 13, GNA – A former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, the Very Reverend Dr. Sam Prempeh, has called for Christians to inspire everybody to be confident about the future.
This, he said, they could do through intensification of the spread of the gospel to bring hope to the people.
He was delivering the sermon at a thanksgiving service held by the Yennyawoso Congregation of the Presbyterian Church, to climax the week-long celebration of its golden jubilee.
“The favour of God” was the theme chosen for the event.
The church had earlier organized a number of activities, including inter-denominational games, clean-up exercises, choreography and awards night, radio talk show and candle light procession.
The Very Rev Prempeh urged the congregation to remain unwavering in their faith and become good example to the rest of the society.
“The church and its leaders must demonstrate faith, courage, compassion, genuine service as exhibited by early believers so that the youth would emulate for a secured future for the church and nation”.
He reminded the leaders to be opened, transparent and accountable to carry the members with them.
He used the occasion to rally all Ghanaians to work together to rein in corruption and speed up the nation’s development.
He urged the people to be bold to expose those who engaged corrupt practices to discourage people from doing it.
The Rev Kofi Amfo-Akonnor, Chairperson of the Asante Presbytery, counseled all to overcome bitterness and accept to live in peace and harmony with each other.
An office complex built by the church to mark the jubilee celebration was inaugurated.
It comes with offices and lounge for ministers, auditorium, conference halls, stores and washrooms.
The Yennyawoso church, established in 1967, has planted 23 societies, supported 13 brilliant children from poor homes through education, and established a credit union.
