Kumasi, Mar 09, GNA – The Garden City Special School, in the Asokore-Mampong Municipality, has been presented with assorted items in support of the upkeep of the mentally handicapped children.
These included bags of rice, fruit juice, biscuits, large quantity of diapers confectionery and undisclosed cash amount.
They were a gift from a group, calling itself “New Patriotic Party Supporters’ Assembly Point”.
Mr. Kwaku Gyasi, the National Coordinator, said it was their contribution to the effort at caring for the children.
He pledged further visits to the school to assist bring some comfort to the vulnerable and the underprivileged in the society.
He used the occasion to encourage parents who gave birth to children with disability to show human love to them and work closely with experts in special care to help them lead normal lives.
Such children should never be treated with spite, he added.
Dr. Rosaline Adjepong, the Director of the School, applauded the group for the gesture, describing it as a welcomed relief.
She renewed the appeal to the public to do more to support the smooth running of the school.
