Accra, March 8, GNA – Edem Komla, a carpenter and Edegbe Edem, a driver were on Wednesday remanded by an Accra Circuit Court for alleged conspiracy and stealing.
The two allegedly conspired and forcibly entered the building of one Heather Abraham and stole her two 42-inch Samsung flat screen television sets valued GH¢4,500.00.
They also had in their possession, one brown parcel containing dried green plant seedlings, suspected to be Indian hemp.
They both pleaded not guilty to the charges, but were remanded by the court presided over by Mr Aboagye Tandoh to reappear on March 21.
Presenting the facts of the case, Police Chief Inspector Kwabena Adu told the court that the complainant Heather is a Businesswoman residing at Adjiringanor, East Legon, while the accused persons live in an uncompleted building at East Legon.
He said on February 25, at about 0320 hours, the complainant whilst fast asleep heard a loud unusual sound coming from the downstairs of her house. She became alert and detected that, her house had been broken into, and her two 42 inches Samsung flat screen television sets had been stolen.
The prosecution said, Heather immediately alerted the police night patrol team on duty in the area who responded to her call and went to her house.
On the spot investigations disclosed that, the unknown thief or thieves used a lifting device to forcibly lift the burglar proof window guard, and had entered the complainants’ living room and stole the items.
Police Chief Inspector Adu said thereafter the patrol team, decided to patrol the vicinity of Adjiringanor.
At about 0400 hours the same day, they spotted the two accused persons carrying two television sets and were arrested.
He told the court that when a search was conducted on them, one brown partly sealed parcel containing green plant seedlings suspected to be Indian hemp was found on them.
The police further found one vehicle jack, one metal plier, one long screw driver, and one black laptop bag. The complainant later identified the two flat screen television sets retrieved as hers.
