Swedru Paramount chief appeals for support
Agona Nyarkrom (C/R), Feb. 12, GNA - Nana Kwabena Botwe II, the Paramount Chief of Agona Swedru, has appealed to the government to support him construct his residence which has been affected by the blast of rocks by Las Adventuras Limited, a construction company working on the Swedru/Akora River dredging project.He said due to the activities of the construction company parts of his house had been destroyed with deep crack on the walls.Nana Kwabena Botwe made the appeal on Monday when the Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Kwesi Oppong Fosu, paid a courtesy call on him in his palace .The Minister also inspected a collapsed bridged at Agona Swedru caused by the blasting of rocks by the company.The visit formed part of the Minister’s three-day visit to some MMDAS in the Central Region.The chief appealed to the Minister to always engage qualified and knowledgeable contractors since the government would be blamed if anything went wrong with such projects.He also called for regular supervision of projects to avoid shoddy work as well as the destruction of people’s property unduly.Mr Fosu assured him that the necessary arrangements would be made to fix the bridge and secure him a new place and advised the public to be careful when using the bridge since it was unsafe.Dr. Samuel Sarpong the Central Regional Minister, also assured the people that the bridge would be fixed as soon as possible to erase the travelling discomfort in the area.GNA
