Church of God, Ghana elects new Presiding Bishop
Kumasi (Ash), July 10, GNA – The Church of God, Ghana has elected Bishop Kwebena Opoku Appiah of the Sunyani branch as its new Presiding Bishop.
He polled 149 votes to beat his close contender Bishop Alex Mensah, who attracted 139.
Bishop Opoku thanked the delegates for the trust reposed in them.
He urged members to bury their differences and forge ahead with unity of mind and purpose to realise the church’s Vision 2020.
He explained that the vision seeks to move the church to a new level that would bring glory and honour to God.
Bishop Ofori was returned unopposed for the position of General Secretary, while Bishop Philip Manu secured 247 votes against 133 by Rev Kofi Twumasi to take the position of Missions Director.
Rev Ernest Asare, Rev Saint Oteng Joseph, Rev Emmanuel Suuk, Rev Osei Yaw Clement, Rev William Adjei Harrison and Rev Andrew Donkor were also elected to the National Executive Council.
