Today March 2, 2017, the Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori Atta presented the government’s budget statement to Parliament. The budget highlights the removal of most of what the government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) considers nuisance taxes.
Outlining the policy initiatives, he said, “we will eliminate nuisance taxes and provide tax incentives to the private sector to spur growth. The tax base will be broadened by formalizing the economy through the national identification card system and the national address system, among others. We believe that these initiatives will maximize revenue collection while
rationalizing expenditures.”
