Faustilove Appiah-Kannin at one of the project sites
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, Faustilove Appiah-Kannin, has expressed strong satisfaction with the pace of work on 19 development projects being executed across the municipality.
The projects, which were initiated within the past three months, are at various stages of completion and focus largely on improving educational infrastructure and access to potable water in underserved communities.
During a tour of selected project sites with key officials of the Assembly, Ms. Appiah-Kannin commended contractors for what she described as impressive speed and quality of work.
At Awona M/A Basic School, renovation works on a three-classroom block have progressed beyond 60 percent completion. A borehole project in the same community, aimed at providing clean drinking water, is also over 60 percent complete.
In Nhyieso, construction of a modern three-classroom block with a computer room, staff common room and headteacher’s office is currently about 50 percent complete.
The inspection team also visited Bediem M/A Schools, where an eight-seater WC facility is under construction. Renovation works on the kindergarten block — including the addition of a kitchen, canteen, staff offices and washrooms — are ongoing, while a borehole project at the school is nearing completion at about 90 percent.
At New Nsuta Presby School, the MCE directed that the existing KG block, which was initially slated for renovation, be demolished. She explained that technical assessment revealed renovation would not be cost-effective, prompting the Assembly to opt for a complete reconstruction of the facility.
Speaking to the media after the tour, Ms. Appiah-Kannin assured residents that all 19 projects are on schedule and expected to be completed and commissioned by mid-year. She praised contractors for their dedication and adherence to timelines.
She was accompanied on the inspection tour by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Joyce Akosua Angmorteh; the Municipal Works Engineer, Mr. David Agyei; the Physical Planning Officer, Madam Agnes Amoah, and other officials of the Assembly.
The inspection exercise is expected to continue in the coming weeks to cover additional project sites across the municipality.
