Residents fetching water at the newly commissioned borehole
Hive, a decentralised blockchain platform, has commissioned its 18th mechanised borehole project in the Asenua community located in the Ashanti Region.
Over the years, Hive has funded transformative projects aimed at empowering underserved communities, guided by coordinators Samuel Boadi and Collins Appiah.
Speaking to journalists, Emmanuel Atta Appiah,
HIVE Ghana Representative stated that the Hive Empowers Communities (HEC) initiative has brought life-changing solutions to various regions in Ghana, making a significant difference by addressing critical challenges.
He highlighted that access to clean water remains a pressing global issue, with millions still struggling to meet this basic need.
However, through the borehole projects, free clean water has been provided to the community, significantly improving the quality of life for residents.
“For many in Asenua, access to clean water has been a daily struggle, often requiring long journeys to unsafe sources. The borehole now ensures that families can access water conveniently, reducing health risks and freeing up time for education,” he said.
He further asserted that the HEC project goes beyond water provision, addressing a range of community needs, including free medical screenings and providing educational materials.
At the launch of the Asenua borehole, Nana Baffour Senkyire, the Akyaakrom/Asenua Nifahene, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Hive for its generosity and commitment to solving the water crisis.
He acknowledged the positive impact the borehole will have on the community and urged other organisations to emulate Hive’s example.
Nana Baffour Senkyire also highlighted additional challenges facing Asenua, such as the need for improved healthcare facilities and educational resources.
He appealed to other agencies and stakeholders to extend similar support to the community, just as Hive has done.
