In a chilling conclusion to the notorious Kasoa money ritual case, 18-year-old Nicholas Kini was sentenced to life imprisonment yesterday for the gruesome murder of 10-year-old Ishmael Mensah Abdella.
Background
In April 2021, the nation was shocked by the horrific killing of Ishmael, a Class Three pupil, allegedly for ritual purposes.
Kini and his accomplice, Felix Nyarko, 18, were arrested and charged with murder and conspiracy to commit crime.
Prosecutors revealed that Kini and Nyarko lured Ishmael to an uncompleted building in Kasoa, where they brutally killed him, hoping to use his body parts for ritualistic purposes.
The duo believed that human sacrifice would bring them wealth and prosperity.
Trial and Verdict
After a lengthy trial, the court delivered its verdict, finding Kini guilty of murder. Nyarko, who had turned state witness, received a 30-year prison sentence.
