Richard Barima Sarpong
Ahead of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries slated for January 27, 2024, youth groups including some opinion leaders in the Sekyere East Constituency have thrown their weight behind Richard Barima Sarpong, as the right candidate to lead the party.
According to the party youth group, Barima Sarpong, spokesperson and the communications manager of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) is the right candidate to lead the party as Member of Parliament (MP) for the constituency.
At a press conference hosted at the constituency capital, Asante Agona, Mustapha Kofi Abraham, leader of the youth group, indicated that after accessing the various aspirants’ messages for the party, and constituency, it was without doubt that Barima has plans and a vision for the progress of his people.
“We are amazed by Richard Barima Sarpong, for his life-touching message ahead of the party’s parliamentary contest. He gave us reasons to believe in him after hearing the message of various parliamentary aspirants including the incumbent MP,” he said.
Kofi Abraham entreated NPP delegates to vote for Barima instead of the current MP, saying, “Barima Sarpong is a local boy, born and brought up in Dawu. He feels and knows our problems. Barima has a more realistic and wise message tailored to address the pressing issues of youth unemployment, and our general welfare.”
He further stated that other aspirants competing with Barima Sarpong had not given any message of hope.
“We cannot afford to do ‘try and error’ anymore. We believe that Afigya Sekyere deserves a Member of Parliament like Barima Sarpong who is local, humble, well-educated, and can speak very well on the floor of Parliament. With his background in legal education, we believe Barima can represent our people with dignity,” he said.
Richard Barima Sarpong, one of the aspiring parliamentary candidates for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Afigya East has been considered the best candidate for the party in that constituency.
The political scientist, sociologist, communication specialist, and legal brain picked number two on the parliamentary primary ballot, and indicated his readiness to rescue the constituency, and make it better for the people.
