The death toll of the Nasia road crash in the North East region has risen to 11.
The Walewale Divisional Police Commander, Chief Supt. Samuel Yeboah who confirmed the incident to DGN Online, said the bodies of the 11 who died have been deposited at the Walewale government hospital and the Tamale Teaching hospital respectively.
“5 bodies have been deposited in Walewale hospital and 6 taken to Tamale Teaching hospital.
According to him, 21 passengers are responding to treatment at the Walewale hospital.
Chief Supt Yeboah indicated that one body has however gone missing but they believe it’s been trapped in the mingled vehicle.
He revealed that so far 14 passengers have been treated and discharged.
He said investigations to ascertain the actual cause of the accident is still ongoing but he however said that they believe the driver was sleeping or over speeding because there was no collision with any other vehicle.
At about 4:00am , January 26,2020 a bus was involved in an accident resulting in the death of 11 passengers with several passengers in critical condition at Nasia in the North East region.
DGN Online gathered that a six month old baby with the mother are among the passengers who died.
One Ibrahim, the driver of the bus however survived but information indicates that his two legs have been broken.
DGN Online gathered that a Bawku bound bus was traveling from Kumasi in the Ashanti region to the Upper East region and upon reaching Nasia , the bus crashed into the metal barricade at the Nasia bridge causing the accident.
The police and ambulance service and Ghana Fire Service personnels have been able to move the accident vehicle from the main road to ease vehicular traffic around the Nasia road.
