The President of the West Africa Nobles Forum, Dr Paul Kofi Fynn, has asked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to prove his critics wrong by backing his declarations to fight corruption and the galamsey menace with action irrespective of who is involved.
He further called on him to be fair to all Ghanaians in the discharge of his duties as the President of the Republic.
100 Days message
His call was contained in a congratulatory message issued by the West Africa Nobles Forum, a group of eminent West Africans with membership strength of over 2,000, to the President on his 100 days in office.
“As a group of eminent personalities of West Africa that abhor corrupt practices, we are delighted by the assurances the President has given to the nation by his resolve to bring probity and accountability to bear on his administration.”
“And as all Ghanaians celebrate the 100 days with his government, we charge the new administration to come up with home-grown solutions to Ghana’s multi-faceted economic challenges,” he said.
Stop the begging
Dr Fynn, who is also the Chancellor of Wisconsin International University College, Ghana, urged the government to discourage the age-long practice of going about with cup in hand begging for handouts from developed countries.
On the winner-takes-all political concept in the country, the forum reminded the President that there were several Ghanaians who did not belong to any political party and whose loyalty was to the state and as such people with competent skills to function effectively in any capacity should be given the chance to serve the nation.
Dr Fynn asked the President to be mindful of the ‘praise-singers and bootlickers’ around the seat of government since they were the very people who made the government unpopular.
“The President should rather befriend those who criticise him constructively,” he added and wished the President well and prayed that the Almighty God would grant him wisdom and long life.
