The President has appointed Mr Stephen Asamoah-Boateng as the Chief Executive of the State Enterprises Commission (SEC). He takes over from Dr Camynt Baezie.
Sources close to the Daily Graphic said Dr Baizie was asked to proceed on leave from last Monday, April 24, 2017.
He was therefore, asked to hand over to Mr Asamoah-Boateng last Monday.
The SEC is charged with the sole responsibility of getting all state-owned enterprises (SoEs) to sign annual performance contracts.
The sources said the Akufo-Addo government was not only interested in the signing of performance contracts by the SoEs but that the new boss would be charged with the responsibility of holding the chief executives of all SoEs to deliver on their contracts.
They said it was the inability of the SEC to hold SoEs to account for their stewardships that had accounted for the declining fortunes of otherwise profitable state-owned organisations in the country.
