The Founder and Head Pastor of the Resurrection Power New Generation Church Reverend Anthony Kwadwo Boakye has urged Ghanaians to remain confident that the country would rise above the odds currently confronting it to become a beacon of hope and prosperity for succeeding generations.
He said as a nation, there was the need to remain upbeat about chances of success but it appeared the confidence that should characterise the way Ghanaians ought to think and act was lacking.
“God has blessed our nation with so much resources and all that is required of us is for each and every one to play their part diligently and leave the rest to God” he said.
Rev. Boakye said this in an interview with Graphic Online as part of activities marking the 15th anniversary celebration of the church.
Don’t tear the nation apart
“Ghana belongs to all of us and so we must desist from acts that would tend to tear the nation apart else posterity would never forgive us,” he advised.
Recounting the history of the church he said the church started in 2002 with a membership of between 45 and 50 but could now boast of a membership of over 80,000 nationwide.
The Kasoa branch of the church alone, he said, could boast of some 30,000 members at any given time and that the vision was to put up a new auditorium that can accommodate up to 70,000 members.
In all the church has about 70 branches throughout the country and three branches abroad and that the prime aim of the church was to propagate the word of God to sinners in order to restore them back to God.
Vision going forward
“Going forward, the vision of the church is to open branches in all district capitals of the country. Currently, we have branches in all the regions of the country apart from the Volta Region. So the Volta Region is our focus for this year,” he said.
Throwing light on the challenges that the church had had to face over the period he recounted that from the onset God commanded the church to reach out and win souls through crusades “but the challenge we had was that we lacked the full complement of resources required to undertake such a task.”
So, he said, the church had to resort to renting the needed equipment adding that apart from the financial challenge that posed, there were times that those rented gadgets broke down bringing more difficulty to the church.
Affecting lives with the word of God
He observed with satisfaction that through the outreaches the church succeeded in affecting lives and bringing about change to the lives of persons that were engaged in all sorts of ungodly acts.
“God, over the period has worked marvellous miracles in the lives of people who came into contact with the church with testimonies of the goodness of God in their lives,” he said.
As part of activities marking the celebration, the church donated 10 wheelchairs to the Police Hospital and also presented assorted food items to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital.
