It was a side attraction initially but in recent times, the Red Carpet experience has grown to become the ‘grand opening’ to the annual Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) and many patrons take it very ‘personal’.
While some of the musicians, actresses, actors, socialites, media personalities and all who had come glammed up for the night have made hits, others have made some misses too as they strutt their stuff on the red carpet.
In fact, the Red Carpet has been a fierce battle ground for who is who when it comes to fashion. Thus with the biggest entertainment event a few days away, the euphoria is already high as the stars gear up to answer the popular question ‘who are you wearing?’.
Showbiz took the opportunity to interview some “slayers” on the Red Carpet on what to expect from them when the VGMA comes off at the Accra International Conference Centre on Saturday, April 8.
For award winning actress, Martha Ankomah, she loves to be herself and look confident in her outfit. She confided in Showbiz that even though she has not yet selected an outfit for Saturday, she hopes to look nice and simple on the day.
“What is important to me is that I look beautiful and decent so definitely, a dress that will make these possible will be my choice,” she said.
Actress Nana Akua has grown to become one of the “queen slayers” in the industry and for an occasion such as the VGMAs, she would not ‘lose guard’.
Well, even though she has not decided yet if she would attend the event due to an impending project which is likely to take her out of the country, she told Showbiz she will look her best on the day if she eventually makes it to VGMAs.
On her part, this is what actress and host of Premieres on Joy Prime, Selly, had to say, “Well, the world knows I am the drama queen when it comes to my outfits. I love couture, original style with that touch of drama and that’s exactly what I’m bringing on to the red carpet.
“It will be something never seen on the red carpet before and it will be put together by a Ghanaian designer”.
Songstress, Becca, has always been sensational on the Red Carpets and come Saturday, the Hwe artiste is poised to turn heads with her style. “I’m coming in very colourful and stylish. It will be a combination of class and style. A graceful appearance, I hope to portray,” were the words of Becca.
Elikem the Tailor knows how to get attention on the Red Carpet and the former Big Brother Africa (BBA) representative, who will host the Red carpet Experince with Berla Mundi on Saturday said he is not wearing anything extraordinary.
According to Elikem who is a designer, “I am just looking forward to show off one of my simple yet classy pieces.
