About eight houses along the beach of Brenu Akyinim in the Komenda Edina Eguafo Abrem Municipality of the Central Region have been destroyed by tidal waves, rendering over 40 people homeless.
Other communities including Ayensudo were also affected by the high tide.
Affected residents have called on the government to attend to their plight by constructing a sea wall for the affected communities.
Isaac Quayson is the Assemblyman for Ayensudo Electoral Area and speaks to Citi News about their experience.
“For the past few days, the residents of Brenu Akyinim that live closer to the gulf of guinea have never slept. This is because there has been a greater and maximum increase of the tidal waves,” he said.
Some communities in the Volta Region also struggled with tidal waves flooding over the weekend.
About 20 households were stranded at Agavedzi and some adjoining communities in the Ketu South Municipality because of the flooding.
