The Founder and Director at PM STEAM Educational Centre, Ohemaa Adjei Andoh, has urged women with aspirations in tech to be open about the support they need.
“If you need something, ask for it. If you need assistance, ask for it. There are people out there who are willing to help you,” she said during the EdTech Monday segment on the Citi Breakfast Show.
She noted that social media was an important tool in this regard.
“Most of the women I have connected with has been through social media. I didn’t know them. So go into people’s DMs, connect with them. Go straight to the point. Let them know what it is that you want.”
Ohemaa Adjei Andoh also urged women to be careful with their personal branding.
“If you reach out to me, the first thing I will do is check out your profile if it is on LinkedIn. I will check out your profile to see how you are selling yourself there,” she said.
“Based on how you have branded yourself and how you are selling yourself out there, I will know that this person is a serious person and I will also be willing to give you my all.”
EdTech Monday is an initiative of the Mastercard Foundation Regional Centre for Teaching and Learning in ICT.
This edition was on celebrating women in tech.
