A female Junior High School student has been offered a full educational scholarship at the Soul Clinic International School in Accra following a report by Citi TV that highlighted the academic challenges the closure of schools had brought on her.
Citi News‘ Umaru Sanda Amadu had interacted with the student on how she had coped with the shutdown of schools amidst the COVID-19 outbreak and the preparations she was making ahead of the resumption of schools for final year students to go and take their exit examinations.
In that report, Jennifer Anum formerly of La Enobal ‘2’ JHS narrated how her family’s financial difficulties had negatively impacted her studies while at home because they had no smartphone and television set to enable her to participate in the virtual and online teaching and learning sessions her privileged colleagues were enjoying.
Weeks after Citi TV aired the report, management of the Soul Clinic International School in line with their policy to assist the less-privileged in society has come to the rescue of Jennifer Amum and has supported her with a scholarship package to enable her to continue her studies through the Cambridge Curriculum.
Jennifer has wholeheartedly expressed her sincerest gratitude to Citi TV and the school authorities for the honour done her.
Her mother, Afua Quaicoo, a trader at the La market also praised Citi TV and Soul Clinic school for the exposure given her daughter describing the offer as the most exciting news ever to ease the already overwhelming financial burden on her.
Meanwhile, a journalist with the Citi Newsroom who wants to remain anonymous has also presented a 42 inch LED TV to Jennifer and her family to enable her to participate in virtual learning after school.
The class teacher at Jennifer’s former school, Emmanuel Commodore who described the young student as promising and studios says the scholarship package is a well-deserving one.
