Three persons have been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of Asantehene’s Asamponhene, Nana Kwadwo Afordour.
The police are yet to give details about the identities of the three persons although there are reports that one of the arrested is a close confidant of the deceased.
Officials from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Police have met with the relatives of the bereaved.
Sympathisers and well-wishers, as well as subchiefs from the Manhyia Palace on Monday, thronged the Krofrom residence of the deceased after news of his death broke on Sunday evening.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander has also led a delegation of police officers to the Manhyia Palace in what sources say is in connection with the alleged murder.
The deceased, 46, was reportedly stabbed to death in the back seat of his Toyota Land Cruiser vehicle by some unknown assailants.
The incident happened on Sunday, August 18, 2019 near Ebuom village on the Ejura – Nkoranza Highway.
The Police has since called on the public to provide them with relevant information that will help investigate the matter.
“Police have since commenced an investigation into the case and is working earnestly to get the perpetrators arrested. The general public is also being urged to assist police investigations by volunteering information through police hotlines: MTN and Vodafone toll-free lines 18555 and all networks 191 or 0299202240,” it said in a statement.
