First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo says she is committed to partnering with the Infanta Malaria Prevention Foundation to make quality healthcare accessible to all.
Speaking at the sod cutting ceremony of a 60-bed capacity health centre at Ashalaja Kwami Anum, in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region, the first lady indicated that Ghana will do everything possible to ensure that its citizens get quality healthcare irrespective of their social status.
“As an organization, we are going to do our best to achieve universal health coverage for all,” the First Lady noted.
Mrs. Akufo-Addo said she is hopeful that all the health workers who are posted to the place will work diligently to make sure that the residents receive the best healthcare.
She said, the Obom Sub District with a population of over 82,000 depend on the Obom Health Centre which is under-resourced adding that “this is not acceptable in our quest for universal health coverage.”
The health facility when completed will cater for the over 82,000 people living at Kwame Anum and Ashalaja and its surrounding towns.
She was optimistic that the project will be completed by the end of the year.
“By the end of this year will come and open this facility for use by the people of Ashalaja and Kwame Anum”.
The First Lady also encouraged the people of Ashalaja and Kwame Anum to use treated mosquito bed nets to prevent malaria and to help in the fight against such sickness.
“Again every pregnant woman must attend antenatal regularly, test for HIV and AIDS and exclusively breastfeed the baby for six months while the baby grows strong and healthy”, Rebecca Akufo-Addo said.
