The qualified but unemployed Allied health professionals have said they fear another grand deception in the Health Ministry’s promises to post them this year.
The Ministry had directed the professionals to undergo an online registration process after securing financial clearance for 750 health workers.
But the professionals said the online recruitment platform has been inaccessible to many, while those who have been able to access the platform also complain that the system failed to recognize their personal identification numbers. The president of the coalition of Allied health professionals, Bright Bell said the situation is worrying.
“It is very frustrating because even as at yesterday, as the coalition president I received more than 1000 calls. If a person has passed the exams and has also registered with their counsel and gotten their professional pins, the person is supposed to have access to the portal, for Allied and professional we are supposed to access the portal with the professional pin. But anytime a person put in their pin into the system, the portal gives feedback that your data has not been captured,” he said.
In 2017, the Coalition of unposted Allied Health professionals accused the Ministry of Health of what it described as bad faith for failing to give financial clearance to its members.
The group besieged the Ministry of Health demanding the immediate financial clearance after the ministry failed to honour its promise.
The group indicated that its members would not leave the Ministry’s premises until they were cleared and the brunt of their criticism was directed at a Deputy Health Minister, Tina Mensah.
The picketing nurses conveyed their distrust with the Ministry by coming along with mosquito nets and a change of clothes, with the intent of sleeping at the ministry till their concerns are met.
