The Brong-Ahafo Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) will soon have an ultra-modern office complex.
The project, which is expected to commence soon, is to ensure the GNFS in the region can carry outs its mandate effectively.
A project which commenced in 1996 for the construction of an office complex and regional station for the GNFS in the region, was abandoned many years ago.
However, the recent release of funds by the government will see the project resumed.
It is expected to be completed within 12 months.
Addressing journalists, National Director of Logistics of the GNFS, Deputy Chief Fire Officer (DCFO) Nana Brenya, said the facility when complete, would facilitate the work of the GNFS in the region.
He appealed to the government and contractor fast track the construction, lamenting that the region was the only one without a Headquarters.
The Regional Commander, Assistant Chief Fire Officer (ACFO), James Owusu Agyei, expressed joy over the commencement of the project, and appealed to squatters around the uncompleted project site to relocate for the smooth implementation of the project.
The contractor, Mr. Samuel Ofori of Samotrust Company Limited, commended the GNFS and assured the authorities of meeting the deadline.
Authorities at the Municipal Assembly are yet to comment on the matter as several attempts to get them proved futile.
