Flagbearer hopeful of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Goosie Tanoh, is set to take his campaign to the three regions in the North.
Mr. Tanoh’s “rising together campaign tour’’ has already been to the Volta Region, Greater Accra Region, and Central Regions.
The opposition political party is gearing up to elect a flagbearer ahead of Ghana’s next presidential and parliamentary elections in 2020.According to political pundits, the NDC’s December presidential primaries will be a test of the legacy of former president John Mahama who is also a candidate in the primaries.
Goosie Tanoh, a founding member of the NDC will be hoping for an opportunity to woo more delegates ahead of proposed date for the primaries.
Per his itinerary, Mr. Goosie Tanoh will visit Wa Central, Wa West and Nadowli Kaleo, to meet party elders and chiefs in the Upper West Region.
He will also meet and interact with delegates at Jirapa, lawra, Nandom, Lambussie, Sissala West and Sissala East constituencies, all in the Upper West Region.
Goosie Tanoh is also expected to canvass for votes in the Upper East and Northern Regions.
A total of 13 aspirants have so far declared their intention to contest for the flagbearer slot.
Profile of Goosie Tanoh
Goosie Tanoh is a Lawyer and a politician born on February 7, 1956.
He holds a Bachelor of Law (LLB) from the University of Ghana and Master of Law degrees from the Northwestern University Law School, Chicago, USA.
In the private sector, he has worked as a Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of Transport and Commodity General Limited, Executive Director, Finance and Administration of Ghana National Petroleum Corporation and as Director and Board Member Ecobank Ghana Limited among others.
Mr. Tanoh was a Law Lecturer at the University of Ghana, Legon in 1982 and also served as a member of the Consultative Assembly that drafted Ghana’s 1992 4th Republican Constitution.
He pioneered the packaging and exportation of Cassava chips from West Africa to Europe in 1989.
He was a member of Ghana’s delegation to the Security Council, General Assembly and the Preparatory Commission on the law of the sea, at the United Nations from 1986 to 1989.
