The 1994 year group of the St. Augustine’s College, Cape Coast has launched the 89th anniversary of the school.
The anniversary will be marked with a Speech and Prize Giving Day on March 15, 2019,
The launch was targeted at raising an estimated amount of $200,000 to renovate the school’s dispensary, basketball and tennis courts.
The launch, which was held at the Coconut Grove Regency Hotel in Accra, was under the theme, “Reigniting the Flame” .
According to the old students, it is customary for every year group (St. Augustine’s Past students Union, APSU), after 25 years of completion, to embark on a legacy project to support the school.
To this end, the 1994 alumni organized the launch of the 89th anniversary to raise funds to undertake their project.
The selection of the project was after a series of discussions with the management of the school.
The headmaster of St. Augustine’s College, Mr. Joseph Connel, indicated that “the projects undertaken for the school by the old students save the school a great deal of burden. He added that these projects contribute to the success and learning process of the students”.
