The Black Star International Film Festival will hold an awards ceremony tonight at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The award which is meant to appreciate the good works of film makers in Africa, is expect to attract key stakeholder of the movie industry and dignitaries from other fields of endeavour.
The special guest of honour is the President, Nana Akufo-Addo.
The festival opened last week at the Silverbird Cinema with British crime-drama “Yardie”, a film based on a novel of the same name written by Victor Headley a Jamaican-born British author.
It was attended by Mrs. Samira Bawumia, the wife of the Vice President Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia and other personalities.
So far, there have been activities ranging from daily film screenings to workshops and panel discussions.
BSIFF is a nonprofit organisation creating global connections through film and helping to bridge the gap between African cinema and the world.

According to Juliet Asante the Founding President of the festival, “Ghana is a critical voice in the region. We continue to impact the industry in very interesting ways. The festival will serve as a rallying point to connect the dots…”
