The Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), has assured residents of Adabraka to expect water supply to be restored by next week.
According to the GWCL, its engineers are working around the clock to fix the situation which has left residents of Adabraka without water flowing through their taps for about month.
Speaking to Citi News, the Board Chairman of GWCL, Alex Afenyo Markin, said residents of the area should expect water soon.“The engineers realized that there is a problem around the Kojo Thompson road, there was a serious leakage under the drain, but I can say with confidences that in less than a week this problem will be resolved finally. Those areas in which we have detected issues, the pipes are being replaced. A third party contractor has actually been engaged and he is seriously working,” he said.
Last month the Accra East office of the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) assured residents of Adabraka and Asylum Down in Accra that their water supply will soon be restored.
Though the Ghana Water Company Limited has been unable to end the water crisis in Adabraka after close to four weeks, it made moves to provide temporary relief to the residents.
The utility provider has contracted some tanker drivers, carrying about 1,500 litres of water to make water runs to Adabraka.
The tankers make about three trips a day to the area, following a preplanned schedule.
“The Ghana Water Company Sent us here. Because of the struggles in this area, they told us to supply them with water,” one of the tanker operators Citi News spoke to, said.
Residents have to rush out with their bucket, barrels and gallons to get as much water as possible.
