President Nana Akufo-Addo is still at a loss as to where some of the massive infrastructure developments undertaken by the have disappeared to.
Speaking at Goaso during his tour of the Brong Ahafo Region, he questioned where the unprecedented road infrastructure that the Mahama government touted as their achievements in 2016 had gone.
He called the Mahama government’s claims in 2016 as mere propaganda and said there was no truth in them.
“If there was truth in it, all the roads around would not be in this state,” he remarked.
As he made his point, he recalled the period in the run-up to the 2016 election when the former President John Mahama said the then-NPP flagbearer must have probably been sleeping to have missed the good work done by the government on the roads.
“During my campaign in 2012, I realized that most of the roads here are very bad. I made the promise to invest heavily in roads here if I am elected President. I have kept my promise. Under the cocoa roads programme, most of the projects are in the Western Region. The majority of roads in this region, are many, I cannot name them. I heard someone came here and said he had not seen these roads. I am sure he was sleeping at the time,” John Mahama said in 2016.
Now, the Akufo-Addo government has said it is going to invest GHc 100 million under the Emergency Spot Improvement Project for major road rehabilitation in the country.
“The unprecedented road infrastructure is a mirage. Everywhere I go people complain of roads and therefore the claim can only be described as propaganda. But measures have been put in place by my govt to address the problem and Akrodie, Goaso, Kenyasi, Hwidiem and others will their roads fixed soon through the Emergency Spot Improvement Programme and the contracts will be awarded soon.”
He assured that the weak economy inherited from the Mahama government was improving and soon Ghanaians will see more projects and improvement in the living conditions.
